Court Bans Timeshare resale Up Front Fees

July 16, 2009

Resale companies will no longer be able to charge upfront fees to clients wishing to sell their timeshares in Florida. Orlando’s Better Business Bureau has hundreds of complaints against dozens of local timeshare companies that charge advance fees. The court ruling in Tallahassee makes that practice illegal. A circuit court ruling in the state’s favor, which will prohibit collecting fees from Florida residents or anyone who owns a Florida timeshare.
Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed that lawsuit against a Texas reseller 11 years ago. That company could still appeal the ruling.
Advantage Vacation has never charged an upfront listing fee of any kind to clients wishing to sell their timeshares.

July 4, 2009 Lobster Fest

Lobster Feast

I live with a Pakistani. This man does not get some of the holidays. This has its good side and bad side. Would I like hot dogs and hamburgers or maybe brat’s for the 4th. Yes I would. But then he comes home with these treasures to prepare. Syed found live Maine Lobsters. (ON MAUI) Not Maine Lobsters that are grown on Kauai. He came home with the real deal. We have this gentleman down the road who grows and teaches organic gardening. He sells us produce once a week when our garden is resting. It is his chard and red white and blue potatoes on the plate. All I did to prepare the lobster was boil a large pot of water with lots of salt and put the lobsters in the pot. Once it gains a boil again set the timer for 12 minutes. The Lobster came out perfect! We had a bottle of Chateau Montelena 2005 Zinfandel from our last Napa Valley trip. I know what you are saying “What Red” I love red. For me it is Red, Red, Red with everything.

Hope you all had a great holiday!

Oahu Mini Vacation

Waikiki Beach

Interval International and RCI are talking about mini vacations. If you don’t have time this summer to take a longer vacation why not take a mini vacation? Syed and I went to Oahu July 7, 2009-July 10, 2009 on our own mini vacation. We stayed at The Hilton Hawaiian Village in a one bedroom ocean view in the Lagoon Tower. I love this place. If you want the Hawaii experience you will get it here. You can spend the day at the resort enjoying the water sports, spa, restaurants, and pool to mention a few things to occupy your time. We like to walk to Waikiki and window shop and of course enjoy the many restaurants. We enjoy living in Maui however we really don’t have the choices of dining Oahu offers. Last time we were in Oahu we went to Doris Dukes. That is a very interesting tour. I highly recommend it. Read more
