Our recent timeshare vacation trip to Kauai- We stayed at the Pahio at Bali Hai in Princeville, Hawaii which is now a Wyndham managed resort.

It was decorated with a Hawaiian theme and was modern and comfortable. We brought another couple with us and there was plenty of room for all. One of our friends enjoyed the golf at Princeville and Poipu.

It rained a lot while we were in Princeville so we would go to the other side of the island for sun and fun, which is about an hour away. There were many many roosters at Pahio at Bali Hai that didn’t seem to know what time it is. They go off at all hours. There was no view from our unit. It was a nice location and town was close for breakfast or dinner. The Princeville Hotel is under renovation until next April.

Getting out and about on our Pahio at Bali Hai, Kauai stay

Hanalei is a charming little town nearby Princeville there you will find good restaurants and art galleries.

Eating: In Hanalei– food is good, a pretty good selection and prices are reasonable. We ate at Post Cards our last night. The food was excellent as was the service. Cheri and I had fresh local fish (Onaga) and the wine selection was great! Dinner for 4, with wine and dessert, was about $140.00.

While in Hawaii, try Lapperts Ice cream which is a Hawaii local favorite. It’s expensive as far as what you expect for a scoop of ice cream. But, their ice cream with its exotic flavors and rich textures made with natural ingredients is one of the best we have ever had.

Activities: Also, Cheri & I had fun kayaking in the Hanalei River. At the end of the road is Haena which is most beautiful. Extremely tropical. It was like being in the rain forest without the long drive to get there. We took a short hike and enjoyed the scenery. There were hugh waves.

Tourist Adventure: In the southern part of the island, we also liked visiting the village of Hanapepe which we found some nice art galleries and shops for Hawaiian crafts and artisan. Another thing to check out when at this end of the Island is the Swinging Bridge. Cheri found the bridge a little to scary for her so she took the picture of me and our friend on the bridge. This bridge is about 50 yards long and is above a river. It looks like something out of a Rambo movie.

We checked out the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas.

It is the nicest timeshare we have seen in Kauai. And no roosters, we were told!

Seeing Red is a good thing with timeshares
Whether you are planning on exchanging your week or renting out your week, it is very important to select a very high demand week from your resort.

Seeing Red is a good thing with timeshares

Whether you are planning on exchanging your week or renting out your week, it is very important to select a very high demand week from your resort. This goes well beyond selecting any “Red” week from your home resort. Some weeks in the Red season are more”Red” than others!

For example, February and March weeks, Christmas , New Years weeks, have a greater demand in Winter resort areas like Florida, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Ski resorts, than other weeks that may be coded as “Red” by the resort or the exchange company. Summer weeks in beach resort locations would have good exchange and rental value.

In short think about the time of year and season of the resort that you are buying your timeshare from is it that areas peak travel to time or close to it?

Hanging out with the popular crowd

Just like in Real Estate you want to buy a timeshare at the lowest price in a high demand resort or location area (keep in mind season too even if in a year round area). Also buying into a point based timeshare system though major resorts or part of a large exchange management system is good.

While you might look at things such as, how many stars or if it is a Gold Crown rating this is not the only criteria to look at for judgment as there are some terrific resorts in high demand areas that are flying low below the radar so make sure that you check these out too when you are wanting to buy a timeshare.

Popular crowd timeshares considerations to ask your self are

Is there a year round demand in this area?

Attractions and activities: Are there major attractions or popular activities near by? Example Las Vegas, Disney World, popular golf resorts, entertainment such as Branson or beautiful beaches or is it centered around top ski resorts that also provide summer season activities as well. (golf & ski).

If buying into a point based system or vacation club, how big is their network? Do they have resorts and affiliations to the above mentioned types of resorts? Do they have a good reputation? Do current members find it easy to get the weeks or resorts they want when they want to?

Simply by hanging out with the popular crowd (high demand timeshares and areas) you will be able to zero in on choosing the right timeshare to buy that will help you in not only exchanging but help you to maintain more of your investment. (remember buy from the timeshare resale marketplace to save and get the most for your dollars)

It’s about quality

Quality is a subjective thing because some might judge on room appointments and others on the experience factors such as close by activities. To begin assessing quality you can get an idea by the star or designations associated with the resorts through the exchange companies as well as looking at the resort yourself either online or in person.

For resort specific timeshares,

View the room/ accommodations – do they meet your needs, if exchanging in network look at rooms in some of your other areas of interest, do you like these?

Activities and resort amenities- are there things to do at the resort its self? Pool, game room, spa concierge, activity desk.

Stuff to see, are there things close by to do both paid and free attractions?

Shopping close by including grocery if you are wanting a timeshare with a kitchen for a self catering holiday.

Points and Vacation Clubs

Look at the network of resorts and locations

Like above review the resort accommodation descriptions, pictures and your area’s of interest.

Read the fine print, how easy is it to exchange or trade in prime areas.

Do they offer bonuses or access to resorts at lower cost for those weekend getaways that you don’t want to use your points or time for?

We recommend that you also visit some of the popular timeshare forums and do a search on the resort in question as you will most likely find reviews by actual owners or visitors to that resort. When assessing quality also do your due diligence and check out the resorts & clubs through the BBB, consumer review type publications such as consumer reports, the VOICE and if in Europe see if they are registered at OTE.

Major brands such as Marriott, Fairfield, Hyatt or vacation clubs such as Disney, Shell vacations and others take pride in their services, amenities and consistency in network wide quality. Note some of the smaller resorts might not be part of the clubs or resorts direct but do have affiliations with top management, networks and exchanges – these are a worth while too check out as well.

Timeshare Yoga – how flexible are you

Many timeshare owners love the ability to do, see and experience the world as well as be able to choose when they vacation.

Flexibility in when and where is another consideration you should keep in mind when buying a timeshare. Because, life is fluid and as such what might be a good time to travel for you this year might change might change next year. So being able to choose and adapt to what fits for you is a good thing.

Flexibility Indicators

Is the timeshare part of a larger chain or club and do they allow you to bank or exchange your weeks easily within their system, and best yet do they give you preference because you are part of the network?

Can you break up your weeks (if you bought a week based timeshare) for example 3 day trip to LV and 4 days skiing at another resort?

Are you only allowed to exchange week for week ex: second week in march for second week in march?

Can you bank and build up your weeks to take a longer vacation in the future? For example can you bank this years time to next year to trade for a two week vacation?

Is the timeshare part of a larger exchange network? For example are they part of Interval, RCI or other exchange network of resorts. And if so, is the exchange network easy to trade and exchange your time or points to take the holiday that you want to in the place you want to.

Just like in life the more flexible you are and your ability to go with the flow of life the happier you will be. So, by practicing timeshare yoga your holidays will flex to your wants and needs.

When you say Timeshares or Fractional the first thing that comes to mind is resorts, condo’s vacation clubs or popular names such as Marriott, Hilton or Starwood. We bought our timeshares for their trade value because we do travel regularly. Having good trade value allowed us to be able to take some amazing vacations and do so at the fraction of the cost of a traditional stay at the resorts of our choice. And now the possibilities for other luxury adventures are opening up.

See What Else You Can Own At A Fraction Of The Price

Do you dream of owning a Lamborghini, sailing on a luxury yacht or flying to exotic destinations in a private jet?

Well, now there are timeshare or factional ownerships for you to be able to do just that. Pretty amazing!

There are typically two types of people and/or companies that buy these luxury fractionals. Corporations are finding that fractional ownerships for these luxury items can be a incentive item for staff or customer perks and is more affordable than actually owning a yacht or corporate plane. Then there are adventurous spirits who have always dreamed of owning a Lamborghini or calling “their pilot” to get the plane ready to whisk them away to their favorite vacation destination.

Personally, we have not bought any membership of these types of fractionals, but they are fun and interesting to think about, so we thought we would share some of this information with you from other blogs and news sources.

Luxury Sports Cars:

Define: car sharing

I assumed this would mainly be classic cars, sports cars and supercars. These are often shared, but most people find their partners through the specialist owners clubs. …

Fractional Supercars – The Drive Of Your Life Now A Reality

Many of us dream about owning supercars – but will never be able to afford the astronomical prices they achieve. Or maybe you simply can’t justify spending that amount of money on something that won’t make you a return on…

Yacht Fractionals

Fractional Yacht Programs – shaking up the industry

A year ago when we looked, the concept of fractional yachts or sailboats seemed to be growing, but slowly. However in the past 12 months, there seems to have been a burst of activity, with new firms and programs coming on the market, …

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES TO FRACTIONAL YACHT OWNERSHIP?

As a rapidly growing alternative to full ownership, fractional yacht ownership or a membership in a fractional ownership club provides owners with the “Best of Both Worlds”, enjoying the advantages of yacht ownership without the additional obligations of maintenance, fees and upkeep.

Jets and Planes Fractionals

The Jet Set

The seeds of the fractional aircraft ownership business as we know it today were really sown during the early 1980s by Richard Santulli who bought out a then-unsuccessful aviation management company called Executive Jet. …

Fractional aircraft program holds open house at new Pease facility

PORTSMOUTH — On Thursday, Alpha Flying Inc. and Atlas Aircraft Center Inc. will hold a grand opening celebration of their new state-of-the-art aviation facility at Pease International Tradeport.

Overview of Fractionals

With this growing segment of fractionals, many are finding it now within their reach to drive the car of their dreams, cruise in their own private yacht or have shared time access to private travel via a fractional jet membership.

If you are considering buying into a fractional membership of these types we would recommend that you check out the company you’re considering buying your membership from. Read the fine details within your contract and know what your responsibilities are when being a shared interest holder.

We stayed at the Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa, which is a destination resort spanning across two islands. For our stay here and the review, we utilized our Hilton Points at this highly recommended world class resort.

The Hilton Maldives Resort -

The Conrad Maldives Rangali is located in the Indian Ocean and features seven restaurants, two spas, world class diving and completely renovated rooms.

Hilton Maldives is known as “One of the world’s most luxurious getaways“.

Accomodations: This is a picture of the room we stayed in. As you can see, it offers luxurious, tropical accommodations combined with fantastic amenities and great service.

The breath taking living areas are centered on landscaped courtyards with fountains. Enormous glass doors substitute for walls and the landscaping ensures total seclusion with a taste of the tropics.

The rooms are furnished with plush daybeds, luxurious Frette pillows to sink into and heavenly Molten Brown toiletries. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the villas offer ocean front living with the gentle breezes whispering at your doorstep

We tried all there was to do at this resort.

Syed reports the “diving was fantastic!” and while Cheri sampled the spa services (which were beyond her expectations), Syed enjoyed the numerous offerings at the yoga pavilion. We found this place to be very romantic with its beautiful surroundings, tropical gardens and beautiful beaches. We highly recommend a leisurely hand holding stroll along any of their private beaches or through the lushly landscaped gardens.

Want Romance or the most awesome dining experience anywhere?

We have been blessed by being able to travel the world and sample exotic foods and dine at many fantastic restaurants because we too, travel timeshare style. While at the Hilton, Maldives we had our best dining experience to date.

Ithaa, the worlds first undersea restaurant is perhaps the most romantic restaurant we have ever dined. Great views from every table, delicious food, outstanding serviceand we were even visited by some unusual guests.

Those are not drawn in characters by the way! Who would have thought tthey are such camera hams and curious creatures?

What an experience!

This was a increditable use of our points. We highly recommend a stay at the Hilton in Maldives.

WE LOVED THE HILTON MALDIVES!

Use your Hilton Points to travel to this exotic tropical destination

40,000 Hilton Honors points per night was a bargain, considering room rates start at $800 per night.
You too could have Hilton Honors Points at a fraction of the cost.

If you like to travel to somewhere new each year and like flexibility, owning point based or timeshares with trade point values is your answer. Check out our hot deals or just simply contact us and we will help you get and bank points so you too can take and stay at some of Hilton’s top resort destinations.
